Read More	Martha Jane Jay was born at Angus, Nebraska, April 27, 1873, and peacefully passed away at Nelson, Nebraska, June 30, 1936, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Anthony Franklin Hiatt in October of 1892. Three children were born to this union: Clarence E., Esther L. and Pearl L. Her husband passed away January 20, 1900. She was again united in marriage to Stephen K. Rust on November 13, 1913, at Clay Center, Nebraska, and on May 27, 1921, her second husband was called home. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother, although she has been in ill health for a number of years. She has been so patient and would great her relatives and friends with a smile, always willing to do her share of the task which she undertook to do. She was a faithful member of the Christian church (sic) of Nelson for many years and attended church when her health permitted her to do so. She was also a faithful member of the Royal Neighbor lodge (sic) of Nelson of which she was Recorder since the departure of her sister, Dora Blackwood. She leaves to mourn their loss the three children: Clarence Hiatt of Nelson, Esther Rust of Bradshaw, and Pearl Shurtleff of Lincoln; also nine grand children and two sisters Mrs. Lydia Barnard of Grand Island, Mrs. Rose White of Angus, and four brothers, Lawson of Orchard, Ira of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ervie of Edgar, and Charley Jay of Nelson. Three sisters and her mother and father preceded her in death. God made a wonderful mother A mother who never grew old, He made her smile of the sunshine And he moulded her heart of pure gold. In her eyes he placed bright shining stars, In her cheeks fair roses you see God made a wonderful mother and he gave that mother to me. By the request of the members of the Royal Neighbor Lodge of Nelson, I am asked to read a few lines in expression of their sympathy: Whereas, It has pleased the Supreme Ruler of the Universe to take from our midst our beloved neighbor and in our lodge we have lost a true and loyal member, the children and sisters and brothers, a loving mother and sister, and the community a kind neighbor, therefore, Be it Resolved, that the members of the R.N.A. Lodge express to the bereaved ones our respect and sympathy and extend to them in their great loss, the hand of neighborly love and with it our deepest regards for them in their sorrow and affliction. Tis hard, so hard, to spell the word We must forever part. Dearest mother and sister we must lay thee In the peaceful grave's embrace. But thy memory will be cherished Till we meet thy heavenly face. The funeral was held at the Christian church (sic) Friday afternoon at 2:30 the service being conducted by Rev. P.M. Peterson.
