Never married. ============== Columbus (Nebraska) Telegram December 1931 Columbus--Funeral services for James Savage, 46, son of Mrs. Mary E. Savage, 2101 Nineteenth street, who passed away at 6 p.m. Thursday in Chicago following a short illness, were held at 9 a.m. today at St. Bonaventure's church with Rev. Fr. Salvator officiating. The body was born to sepulture in the parish cemetery by Henry Siemek, Frank Savage, Joe Savage, Frank Shemek, Henry Nickolite and Thomas Kusek. Military services were held at the grave. A firing squad composed of members of the local company...(list omitted here). Mr. Savage, who had been a commercial illustrator and portrait artist for many years, was doing special work in Chicago when he was suddenly taken ill Wednesday afternoon. He was removed to a hospital for medical examination, but was in such a weakened condition an operation could not be performed. His death was due to peritonitis caused by ulcers. He was born in Silver Creek, Nebr., and when a young man moved with his family to Columbus. He always followed his occupation as a painter and spent the great part of his life traveling, doing most of his work between Chicago and New York City. He is survived by his mother; four brothers, John Savage of New York City, Joseph Savage, of Holywood, Calif., and Stanley and Ed Savage, of Columbus, and four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Koziol, of Chicago, Mrs. L. L. Vanderheiden, of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Merrill Hooven, of New York City and Mrs. John Briggs of Columbus. Upon receiving work of his death, John Savage went to Chicago, and accompanied the body here yesterday. His brother in California and his two sisters in the east were unable to attend the services. -------------
