(Jay) Geis, life long member of St. Michael Catholic Church, passed away peacefully Sunday morning July 12th 2015, at his home after an extended illness. He was born October 4th, 1930 at the family home in Brookville, the youngest of 4 children of Anthony and Mary (Spaeth) Geis. James attended Brookville High School, graduating in 1948, then attended Miami University, Oxford Ohio, and graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. (Jay) Geis, life long member of St. Michael Catholic Church, passed away peacefully Sunday morning July 12th 2015, at his home after an extended illness. He was born October 4th, 1930 at the family home in Brookville, the youngest of 4 children of Anthony and Mary (Spaeth) Geis. James attended Brookville High School, graduating in 1948, then attended Miami University, Oxford Ohio, and graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Later he earned his Master of Arts degree from Ball State University in Executive Development. James and his wife were married on October 15th, 1960 at St. Michael Catholic Church and moved to a home in Riverview Subdivision where they still reside. James retired from the Ford Motor Company where he worked for nearly 30 years as an accountant. He has also worked at the former National Lead Company of Ohio, Fernald Uranium Plant as an accountant. James loved fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, camping and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He loved playing sports and was a coach for girls softball and played soccer, baseball, and tennis with the neighborhood kids who affectionately referred to him as Mr. Jay. He was an avid reader of historical and political non-fiction whose quiet demeanor belied a quick wit and keen intelligence. He was generous with his time and often devoted himself to any task from repairing bikes to helping with science fair and 4-H projects. He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Michael Church. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, his six children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, as well as his sister of Brookville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Geis Conwell, a brother, Harold Geis; as well as his parents-in-law, Felix & Rady (Blake) Ellis. The Very Rev. Sean Danda, will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville. Burial will then follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Brookville. Family & Friends may visit from 4 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M..
