Rev. Fr. Tim Fitzgerald performed the Mass of Christian Burial. Coen Funeral Home of Creston had charge of the arrangments. James Kosar was a soil conservation engineer, and worked for Adair County Soil Conservation Service in Greenfield 1957-1958. He died of cancer February 17 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, after an illness of fourteen months. A memorial in his name has been established for the American Cancer Society. He was born December 18, 1919 in Adams County to James Kosar, Sr. and Clara Anna Blazek Kosar. He was married to Margaret Mary Snow April 17, 1944 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He entered the service February 1, 1943. He entered Officer's Candidate School the same year, and was a veteran of the Asiatic Pacific Theater 1944-46, and was a retired Army Reserve Major. He was a member of the Williamson American Legion, Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1797, Reserve Officers Association, and Soil Conservation Society. Mr. Kosar lived at Nevinville 1947-1959, in Marion until 1963, Des Moines until 1969, Phoenix, Arizona until 1974, Flagstaff, Arizona until 1980 when they returned to Creston. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons and daughters, Teresa (Mrs. Roger) Bergman of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Russel Kosar, Nicholas Kosar, and Celeste Kosar, all of Ames; Ethel (Mrs. Richard) Duncan of Lowry Airforce Base, Colorado, and Alice Kosar at home; his mother Clara A. Kosar of Creston, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James III, in infancy; his father, James Kosar, Sr., a brother Joseph and two sisters, Lois and Rosie Kosar.
