Description	:	BRINKHAVEN — James L. "Jim" Butler, 79, of Township Road 11, Brinkhaven, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Brinkhaven to the late Earl E. and Lilly Pearl (Kyser) Butler. He married Emma E. (Thayer) Butler on Feb. 27, 1960, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, receiving a Purple Heart commendation. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Union in Columbus before his retirement. "Jim" Butler, 79, of Township Road 11, Brinkhaven, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Brinkhaven to the late Earl E. and Lilly Pearl (Kyser) Butler. He married Emma E. (Thayer) Butler on Feb. 27, 1960, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, receiving a Purple Heart commendation. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Union in Columbus before his retirement. He loved to mow the yard and take care of his rose bushes. Jim loved life and enjoyed it even in the down times. He loved to make people smile, and never met a stranger in his life. He is survived by a son, Chris (Kim) Butler of Brinkhaven; two daughters, Lori (Rick) Demarco of Killbuck and Terri Thayer of Mount Sterling, Ky.; two grandsons, Mat (Natasha) Butler of Newark and Jeff Ohm of Phoenix, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Sarah Butler of Brinkhaven and Ellie (Hans) Ramseyer of Millersburg; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Kolton, whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Dale Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Tiverton Baptist Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg, OH 44654.
