He was born in Orangeburg, S.C., a son of the late Reverend Herman Leon and Florence Lovern Driggers. Jimmy was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the Anderson-Greenwood Harley Owners Group. During his 37 years of textile work, he was employed at Calhoun Mills, Wellington Yarns, American Schlaforst and American Suessen, prior to recently establishing his own textile company. 'Jimmy' Driggers, age 55, of 58 Mud Creek Road, Calhoun Falls, S.C., died Monday June 25, 2001, in the Anderson Area Medical Center, Anderson, S.C. He was born in Orangeburg, S.C., a son of the late Reverend Herman Leon and Florence Lovern Driggers. Jimmy was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the Anderson-Greenwood Harley Owners Group. During his 37 years of textile work, he was employed at Calhoun Mills, Wellington Yarns, American Schlaforst and American Suessen, prior to recently establishing his own textile company. He attended the Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his widow, Willene Nelson Driggers and daughter, Sandy Purdy of the home; a son, Jody Driggers also of Calhoun Falls; a brother, Gene A. Driggers of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Nancy Driggers Ray of Orangeburg, and grandchildren, Eric and Brittany Purdy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Gene Poole and Rev. Virgil Manning officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at Abbeville, S.C. Calhoun Falls Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
