Description	:	Salem, Iowa -- James L. Mitchell died December 21, 1912, aged eighty years. In 1862 he and Louisa L. Lewman were married and to this union ten children were born, two dying in infancy and one, Leslie, passed away May 7, 1893, at the age of nineteen. Those surviving are: William of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Ella McPherran of Ponca, Nebraska; John L. of Packwood, Iowa; Mrs. Eliza J. Hodson of Denova, Iowa; Mrs. Maude Vannoy of Eden, Illinois; Mrs. Mae Hallowell of Salem, Iowa; and Mrs. Mattie Phipps of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Mr. Mitchell was raised a Presbyterian and... Mr. Mitchell was raised a Presbyterian and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Ackley, Iowa, and lived a consistent Christian life. He was a devoted husband and father and was beloved by all who knew him. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge at Richland for about fifty years. The funeral services were held in the Friends Church at Cedar Monday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by J.W. Stine of the M.E. Church in Salem, assisted by Mr. Smith, pastor of the Friends Church.
