Description	:	James Landon Vise, otherwise known as “Pig”, entered this world on August 30, 1925 at the Sulphur Springs home of his parents in the Mt. Lebanon Community of Decatur County, Tennessee. He was the youngest of eight siblings born to John Wesley Vise and Maggie Luna (White) Vise. His mother and grandfather, George Malachi Vise, died from typhoid fever when he was a year old. He was the youngest of eight siblings born to John Wesley Vise and Maggie Luna (White) Vise. His mother and grandfather, George Malachi Vise, died from typhoid fever when he was a year old. James Landon’s grandmother, Sarah Tennessee (Smith) Vise, moved in to help John raise his eight children. Pig attended grammar school at Mt. Lebanon and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1942 as Salutatorian and Vice-President of his class. Pig married Emily Ann Jennings on November 28, 1942. Not many couples can boast of a loving marriage that lasted for over 72 years! They had three children, James Douglas, Ronnie Frank and Elizabeth Joy Vise; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with another one on the way; and two great-great-granddaughters. James Landon made his living by farming. He remained a farmer as long as he was able to work. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church since 1937. He and his family were very active in church and community activities. Pig was very civic minded, serving as a county commissioner for 28 years. He was active in the Decaturville Lions Club and served as a Co-Op Director. For many years he was also elected to serve on the Decatur County Election Commission. Pig loved nothing better than spending time with his family and he was happiest when they were all gathered around usually every Sunday night for supper. You could see that smile come to his face when the little ones entered the door. James Landon “Pig” Vise entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the age of 89 years, 10 months and five days. He is survived by his wife, Emily Ann (Jennings) Vise and son, Doug (Hilda) Vise of Decaturville, Tennessee, son Ronnie (Pam) Vise of Parsons, Tennessee, and daughter Joy Harrington of Daphne, Alabama; grandchildren, Tracy (Gary) Pevahouse, Beronica Vise, Stacy (Tara) Vise, Hayley (Lee) Wyatt, April (Scott) Fisher, Hannah (Ryan) Burke, Jonna (Tim) Pfountz, Blayne (Zach) Rogers and Chase Vise; great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Evans, Shawn Pevahouse, Alec Vise, Landry Vise, Hayden Wyatt, Landon Wyatt, Adalyn Pfountz, and Blakely Burke; and great-great granddaughters, Madison and Bella Evans. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mal and Tennie Vise; parents, John and Luna Vise; four brothers, J. W Vise, Robert Vise, William Vise and Roach Vise; three sisters, Lucille Houston, Maxine Brasher and Lorraine Howie. Funeral services were held at Reed’s Chapel in Decaturville on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Don Franks officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
