Description	:	James Leonard Brown, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, January 21, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Brown was born January 23, 1917, in Salem Township of Henry County, the son of Emerson and Annis Belle (McDowell) Brown. He married Helen Louise Martin in Washington, Iowa. He attended county school, Mapleleaf No. 6 Tippecanoe and Salem High School. After high school, he began farming. He purchased a farm in 1943 and farmed north of Glasgow until 1975. Pleasant, died Friday, January 21, 2005, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Brown was born January 23, 1917, in Salem Township of Henry County, the son of Emerson and Annis Belle (McDowell) Brown. He married Helen Louise Martin in Washington, Iowa. He attended county school, Mapleleaf No. 6 Tippecanoe and Salem High School. After high school, he began farming. He purchased a farm in 1943 and farmed north of Glasgow until 1975. He then moved to Mt. Pleasant and worked for Midwest Old Threshers for two years and REC for the following two years. He was a former member of the Glasgow Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Doris and her husband Burton Shellabarger of Woodward; two sons, William and his wife Betty Brown of Des Moines, and Wendell Brown of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Chester and his wife Phyllis Brown of Mt Pleasant; a sister, Lena Burkey of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Neva Chrisinger. The body has been cremated. Arrangements were handled by the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant.
