James Louis Rasmussen was born February 18, 1934 at Beresford, South Dakota, the son of Warren R. and Lillian (Albers) Rasmussen. He grew up in Beresford and attended Beresford public school. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. On June 14, 1957 Jim was united in marriage to Elvina Larson at Worthing. They lived in the Lennox area their entire married life. He was employed in construction and was head of maintenance at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center for many years, retiring in 1999. His wife preceded him in death on May 3, 2001. Jim was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Brethorst-Burma American Legion Post 4174 in Lennox and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #628 in Sioux Falls. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his father on June 20, 1975; his mother on Mar. 19, 1997; his brother: Eugene "Bud" Rasmussen on July 9, 1993; two brothers-in-law: Herbert Maas and Robert Novak; sister-in-law: Betty Montgomery and nephew, Alan Montgomery. Grateful for having shared his life are his sister: Marilyn Maas of New Hampton, Iowa; his nieces and nephews including special nephew: Dick Rasmussen and his wife, Maureen, of Lennox; great-nieces and great-nephews, including Jodi Mechels and her husband, Dalane, of Lennox; and his great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Eldean Montgomery, Alice and Kerwin Klinkenborg and Al and Rita Larson; plus other relatives and friends.
