His son also states that... Read More	From his obituary: Mr. James Canady, five miles south of town, died Sunday, Feb. 11, about 12 o' clock, of cancer in the face. One side of his nose has been eaten away for a number of years. One side of his nose has been eaten away for a number of years. Two weeks ago we reported that he had eaten or drank nothing for thirteen days prior to the date of writing, and his son says that he did not eat or take any nourishment for two weeks before his death. His son also states that he had no operation of the bowels for 35 days prior to his death. His son did not know the exact year that his father came from Missouri here, but it was before the Blackhawk war. Mr. Canady lived in Old Town at the time of the famous deep snow. He was one of the first settlers of McLean County. He was married twice and the father of sixteen children. He was in his 69th year, and leaves a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his departure. Mr. Canady was a man respected as an honest, quiet and good citizen by all w h o knew him. His remains will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove cemetery at one o 'clock today, the 12th. Bloomington Weekly Leader February 15, 1883
