James married Jane Kenny on Oct 26, 1843 in Carroll County, VA. She the daughter of William Kenny and Rosanah Dunn. She was born on May 14, 1819 in Grayson, VA and died on Dec 6, 1859 in Hillsville, VA, at the age of 40. They had 10 children. 1. Sarah Elizabeth Early born on Aug 30, 1844 and died on Feb 24, 1917 in Hillsville, VA. She married James Mc Muran on Jan 26, 1868 in Carroll, VA. James was born on May 29, 184 in Shepherdstown, VA and died in Aug 5, 1906, Hillsville, VA. They had 3 Children, 2. MAJ John Early born in Nov 1, 1945 and died on May 16, 1864 in the Civil War , Drewery's Bluff ,VA. He enlisted on the Confederate side on June 1, 1861 , at the age of 15 as a private. to the D Co. of Va 29th Infantry . On 1863 reenlisted , became a Sergeant Major. He was killed in action. 3. William Kenny Early born on April 8, 1847 in Carroll, VA and died on July 18, 1927 in Galax City, VA. William was a Civil War Veteran. He enlisted in Company M, Virginia 37th Cavalry on June 1, 1863. He lived to receive a pension. He married Mary Louis Molly Belo in 1874 in Inston-Salem, NC. Mary was the daughter of Lewis Belo and Henrietta Reich. She was born on Jun 23, 1852 in Salem, NC and died on Jan 5, 1928 in Galax, VA. They had five wonderful children. George Early 1874-1951, James Louis Early 1876-1945 ( He became a medical doctor and practiced mainly in Saltville, VA and Radford, VA. He was active in politics .), 4. Rhoda J Early born on October 17, 1848 and died on Feb 10, 1881 in Carroll, VA. She married Joseph Addison Smith on Aug 9, 1880 in Carroll, VA. Joseph was born on July 29, 1854 in Lockhart, TX and died on April 21, 1920 in Murfreesboro, Tn He is the son of William Addison and Amelia (Lewis) Smith. They had no children. He was a minister . 5. Peter Stephens Early born on January 25, 1850 in Carroll, VA and died on Jul 12, 1920 in Winston- Salem , NC . He married Mary Jane Blackwell on Nov 22, 1877 in Yadkin, NC .
