''''''''''' Ulysses Dispatch (Ulysses, Nebr.), January 21, 1916, p. 5, col. 5 JAMES MOORE DIED FROM RECENT OPERATION James Moore died at his home at Seward, Nebraska, on Monday morning, June 5th, 1916, aged sixty-five years. Deceased is survived by his widow and three children, Mrs. Anna Walsh, Mrs. May Foster and Thomas Moore, also eleven grandchildren all living near Ulysses, two brothers, John and Samuel Moore, and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Crosby, Mrs. Emma Duff, Mrs. Matilda Colfer and Mrs. Mary Grimes, all living in Chicago. Mr. Moore was born in New York state and was married to Miss Elizabeth Morrissey in Waukegan, Illinois, November 20, 1877. Seven children blessed their union, five daughters and two sons, three daughters and one son dying in infancy., one of whom rests in the Catholic cemetery near Ulysses. Mr. Moore and his wife moved to Chicago where they lived for a time, afterward removing to Seward county where he engaged in farming pursuits during a period of several years, after which he removed to Seward where he lived up to the time of his death on June 5th. Deceased, by industry and frugality, had accumulated a competency of this world's goods and was the possessor of a generous and optimistic nature who, ever and at all times, saw the sunshine and had the happy faculty of passing it on to others, who basked in the rays of his genial personality. His hearty laugh and words of cheer will long be remembered by his many friends at Ulysses, where he was a frequent visitor and where, for several years past, he was identified with a number of business interests, he being one of the directors in the Farmers and Merchants bank at Ulysses since its institution in 1906. He was a member of the Modern Woodman and a loyal and staunch supporter of the Ulysses Dispatch. Mr. Moore enjoyed excellent health until about eighteen months ago when he became ill of kidney trouble. He had been an inmate of the Everett sanitarium in Lincoln of late but the disease not responding to medical treatment, he returned to his Seward home two weeks prior to his death where he gradually declined until, following a surgical operation on June 3rd, from which he never entirely rallied, passing away on June 5th. The widow and children together with the othe surviving relatives have the sympathy of hosts of friends in their affliction. A large number of Ulysses friends were present at the funeral services which were held at Seward on Wednesday morning at St. Vincent's Catholic church at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Father Agius officiating at requiem high mass. The numerous and beautiful floral offerings upon the casket attested the respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends, many of whom by auto and carriage accompanied the remains to Ulysses where interment was made by the side of his child in the Catholic cemetery.
