Young died at his home in Logan, Tuesday, February 22, after a short illness, though he had been in failing health for several years. Young died at his home in Logan, Tuesday, February 22, after a short illness, though he had been in failing health for several years. He was born November 8, 1839, and reached the age of 81 years, three months and fourteen days when called to rest. "Uncle Brig" had long been a resident of Logan. He was known to almost everybody here or who had ever been here for any length of time. Always friendly and jolly, he made friends of everybody. He had a kind word for all, and especially did he have a warm place in his great heart for children. He was honest and generous and had not an enemy in the world, because of his kindly nature and his desire to treat all people well. He was a soldier in the Civil war, and after leaving that service, he engaged in different occupations. He and his wife, "Aunt Sue", who passed away some years ago, kept a hotel here for some time; for awhile they were in charge of the county poor farm between Logan and Woodbine They went from here to Grand Junction where they operated a hotel for a term, then returned to Logan, where they ran a hotel for some years, later a boarding house, and for many years, Mr. Young was a rural mail carrier, in which occupation he continued as long as his health would permit. For the past few years, he has not been strong enough to engage in any hard labor but was busy most of the time. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Presbyterian church and to both organizations, he was a faithful and earnest supporter. His funeral service will be in charge of the Masonic order this, Thursday, afternoon, and he will be laid to rest in Logan Cemetery beside his faithful companion of many years. In the death of "Uncle Brig," Logan loses one of its most beloved citizens, and every child in the town loses a good, true friend."
