When he reached his side Mr. O'Neill had expired. James O'Neill was born November 3, 1864 at Springfield, Illinois. When about 30 years of age, Mr. O'Neill came to Nebraska and settled in Pawnee county at Burchard. On October 5, 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Catherine Peacock. To them was born five children, three sons and two daughters, all of them survive. In 1906, Mr. O'Neill moved with his family to Brown county and settled on a homestead under the Kinkaid law about 35 miles south of Ainsworth. Here the family lived until 1924, when they came to Ainsworth, which has since been their home. The deceased professed a personal faith in the Saviour and united with the Christian church while he resided in Pawnee county and was instrumental in helping organize a Christian Church near his home while on the homestead. While this church later disbanded, Mr. O'Neill never saw fit to transfer his membership to any other church. Besides the bereaved widow there are left to mourn the sudden death of this good man his three son, Otis Frank, Valentine; James Val, and Ralph Edward, Ainsworth; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Huddle, Keya Paha, South Dakota; and Mrs. Lena Marie Weygint of Coyote, California. Funeral services were conducted at the Jensen funeral Home Wednesday afternoon, by Dr. John Hall of the Methodist Church.
