Description	:	OBITUARY: Word was received Friday of the death of Mrs. Mary O'Neill, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold Weygint of Puyallup, Washington, after a lingering illness of two years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational Church in Ainsworth conducted by Rev. Ray A. Haun. Interment was in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Mary Catherine Peacock was born in Calhoun County, Illinois on October 11, 1875, and departed this life at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 4 days. She was the daughter of John and Marslena Peacock and grew to womanhood near Burchard in Pawnee County, Nebraska. On October 3, 1899 she was united in marriage with James O'Neill. To this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 30, 1939. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill moved their family to Brown county and settled on a homestead, under the Kincaid Law, about 26 miles south of Ainsworth, and about 15 miles southeast of Elsmere. Here the family lived until 1924 when they came to Ainsworth. she resided there until 1942 when she moved to Valentine and made her home with her son, Otis and family until the last four years when she has been with her daughter, Lena and family in Washington. When a young girl she joined the Christian Church and in later years transferred her membership to the Congregational Church in Ainsworth. She is survived by her five children, Otis, Frank and James Val of Valentine; Mrs. Eva A. Huddle of Keyapaha, S. Dak.; Mrs. Lena Weygint of Puyallup, Wash., and Ralph E. of Omaha, Nebr.; one brother, Owen Peacock of Pawnee City; two sisters, Zelpha Butcher of Lincoln, and Melisa Goodale of Long Beach, Calif. She also leaves to mourn her passing fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many friends. (from the Valentine Republican, January 21, 1954)
