Miller, the son of William and Lovenia Miller, was born near Aurora, Nebraska, on September 26, 1922. His death occurred at Lincoln, Nebraska on January 10, 1984, at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 14 days. His entire lifetime was spent in Hamilton County, with the exception of the time he served his country during World War II. He received his education in the District School near his parents home. On January 6, 1943 he entered the service of his country and served in the Army Air Force and served in the European Teater of operations. He received his discharge on October 23, 1945. He then returned home and farmed south of Aurora. On June 23, 1948, he was united in marriage to Delpha Bottorf at Aurora. Two sons blessed their home. The Millers farmed south of Aurora until 1955, when he quit farming and was employed by the Kiewit Construction Co. In 1959 the family moved into Aurora. Following his work in construction he was employed at the Aurora Co-op Service Station. He later purchased a milk truck and operated a milk route for the Farmer's Union Creamery in Aurora. In 1968 he sold his truck and was employed by the Davis Tire Store in Aurora. In 1972 he went to work for the Sperry-New Holland Plant in Grand Island where he was still employed at the time of his death. His parents preceded him in death. Jim was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 4993 and the Lester S. Harter Post No. 42 of the American Legion in Aurora. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Delpha; their two sons, Jimmie J. Miller of Aurora and Steven Miller of Lincoln; two brothers, Ben Miller and Vernon Miller and one sister Mrs. Edith Alberts all of Aurora; and other relatives and close friends.
