Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday February 23, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Inurnment will be held at a later date. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Betty Boyenga on April 28, 1946 in Ackley, IA. Jim was employed as a supervisor with Lennox, in Marshalltown, for 44 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshalltown where he held several offices including the Church's treasurer, trustee, and the building committee. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the lake and taking his family waterskiing. Most of all Jim loved spending time with his family and traveling. Jim will be missed by his wife; Betty, three daughters; DeAnne Knaack of Marshalltown, Vicki (Dennis) Underhill of LeGrand, IA, Nancy (Dan) Slocum of Independence, IA, six grandchildren; Michael Bristley, Nate (Heather) Lukehart, Jill (Chris) Braye, Joni (Mark) Medhus, Tena (Jeremiah) Johnson, Tony Slocum, eighteen great grandchildren, and one sister; Betty Briggs. He was preceded in death by; a daughter, Susan Bristley, a granddaughter, Angela, a son in law, Bill Knaack, and a brother, Wayne. February 21, 2011 Times-Republican
