Jimmy was born in Billings and raised in Pompeys Pillar, and graduated from Huntley Project High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, he entered the United States Army and served in Germany. Jimmy was employed as a truck driver for most of his life. He loved gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented his yard, and he especially loved his little schnauzer, Jessie, who has also joined him in his next journey. Jimmy was born in Billings and raised in Pompeys Pillar, and graduated from Huntley Project High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, he entered the United States Army and served in Germany. Jimmy was employed as a truck driver for most of his life. He loved gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented his yard, and he especially loved his little schnauzer, Jessie, who has also joined him in his next journey. He was one of six children born to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Hofferber. Jimmy will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers Joe and Allen Hofferber (Judy Blake); and loving sisters, Birdie (Paul) Grammens, Dolores (Richard) Jensen and Donna (Louis) Wise; and close friend, Jerry Stank; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. One remembrance shared was that of a time when Jimmy was just a small boy and his big sister Birdie needed to drive to the country store for groceries. Jimmy and Allen begged to come along, but Birdie said no because they were all messy and grubby. As Birdie pulled up to the store, the clerk was waving with a grin. Unbeknownst to Birdie, she had two grubby little stowaways in the back of the truck. Another sister, Donna (who has been partially paralyzed most of her life), recalls that Jimmy was so kind and sweet that he even purposely constructed a deck that would allow her easily enter his home. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Hofferber; brother-in-law Paul Grammens and niece Carol (Grammens) Zopfi. Jimmy touched the lives of many people with his sweet disposition and kindheartedness. Friends and family are invited to attend a gravesite service on Wednesday, April 20, at 11 a.m., at Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT. The Hofferber family requests at this time of their sorrow that you reach out to someone you care about and let them know how much they mean to you and that you find strength in the love of your family and in the warm embrace of your friends.
