Gordon Jensen, pastor of the Congregational-Baptist church, officiated at the rites. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cecil Carder, Ray Nejedly, John Mueller, Clarence Doerr, Fred Schaefer and Noble Berglund. Mr. Reese passed away at the home of a daughter in San Jose, Calif. on August 3. James Sidney Reese was born Feb. 10, 1872 at Galesburg, Ill. When he was a child his parents moved to North Bend. It was there he grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Nellie Josephine Ives on Feb. 14, 1893. Eight children were born to them. The couple first made their home on a farm in Dodge County. It was in 1914 that they purchased a farm three miles east of Creighton. After the death of his wife, he discontinued farming and in 1934 moved to California, where he was employed on a chicken ranch. The past few years he has resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Radcliff of San Jose. It was there that he passed away while asleep. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1929 and a son, Ollin in 1944. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. True (Annabel) Carder of Creighton, Mrs. Elmer (Bertha) Kahler of Ames, Mrs. Radcliff of San Jose and Mrs. John (Agnes) Horn of Plainview; three sons, Harley of Norfolk, Leonard and Richard of San Jose; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
