James Silburn was born in Yorkshire, England, Jan. 1st, 1800; was married to Miss Hannah Milner in 1828, and came to America in 1829. He located at Rochester, New York, and remained there one year, after which he came to Ohio, locating 13 miles east of Cleveland. James Silburn was born in Yorkshire, England, Jan. 1st, 1800; was married to Miss Hannah Milner in 1828, and came to America in 1829. He located at Rochester, New York, and remained there one year, after which he came to Ohio, locating 13 miles east of Cleveland. In that year 1864 the Angel of Death darkened his home and saddened his life by taking away the companion of his youth. He remained at the old homestead until 1870 when he came to this vicinity to spend the remainder of his days with his children. He joined the M.E. church at the age of 21 and gave to the church the thought, strength, vigor and zeal of his manhood. He was dearly attached to the church of his early choice and spent nearly 64 years of his life in the service of his heavenly Master. For nearly 30 years he had been so deprived of his hearing that the sanctuary was no benefit to him. For the past 20 years he had not heard a sound and had been gradually failing in health for two years and for three weeks had been confined to his bed and had sunken rapidly until Monday, March 23d, at 3 p.m., the very wheels of life stood still and the spirit of the honored James Silburn took its flight to the realms of light. The deceased was aged 85 years, 2 months and 23 days. He leaves a host of friends and neighbors and six children to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by the writer. Rev. W.A. Wones.
