She was the last survivor of a family of eight children. Beginning to teach at the age of 14, she taught 14 years before her marriage Feb. 22, 1874, to William P. Truesdell, of Michigan. Four of the five children of this union are still living: Mrs. Ollie Rawson, Fayette; S. Frank Truesdell, Archer, Ia.; Raymond S. Truesdell, Alpha, Ia.; and Mrs. Viola Richards of Long Beach, Calif. James Verdine died at the age of 23. Fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. After the death of her husband in 1907, Mrs. Truesdell lived with her daughters, spending most of the time with Mrs. Richards. She spent last summer with Mrs. Rawson of Fayette, Ia., who accompanied her mother last October to visit Mrs. Richards in California. Here Mrs. Truesdell spent the winter, but being anxious to return to Fayette in the spring, Mrs. Richards returned with her to Mrs. Rawson's. All winter she had suffered from the effects of a blood clot on the brain which occurred shortly after her arrival in California. During all of her illness she was a most patient sufferer, and strong in her faith. In the winter of 1890, she united with the Christian church of Arlington, and continued with that church till her death. In life she was a hard and efficient worker, at any work the mother in a home is called upon to do, and did especially beautiful work with her needle. Even last summer she did embroidery work that would both in quantity and quality put to shame most of the young people of today. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Rawson home, conducted by Rev. John D. Clinton, and the body was taken in the afternoon to the Christian church at Arlington for another service.
