| Description | : | James was The son of Edward Sims who migrated from England. James fought in the war of 1812 and under General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. James married Rachel McGarity and they were the parents of 9 children most of whom are buried in Freedom Cemetery. He was an accomplished woodworker and much of the furniture he built and his log home still stand today. He was a great pioneer in the Morgan County area and his descendants are successful, educated citizens. |
