Description	:	James Ames, 69 of Mobridge and formerly of Miller, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2010 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with Rev. David Belzer officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2010 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with Rev. David Belzer officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller. Jim was born June 18, 1941 to Wesley and Myrtle (Seeley) Ames at Miller, South Dakota. He was raised on the family farm near Miller and educated in the Miller School system. He lived his entire life in South Dakota, working in several different capacities, and owned and operated J & R Repair in Polo for several years. On August 14, 1982, he was united in marriage to Margaretha Schaefers. To this union, one son was born, Terry. In 1987, they moved to Mobridge where he was employed by Ford/New Holland and Case I.H. dealership. In 2003, he retired due to failing health and in 2009, moved to the Golden Living Center at Mobridge. Jim loved to fish and living along the Missouri River was a real joy to him. He spent much of his free time walleye fishing. He is survived by his son, Terry Ames of Benton, AR; step sons: Allen Schaefers of Clear Lake, Larry Schaefers of South Shore, Lonnie Schaefers of Watertown, and Randy Schaefers of Mobridge; step daughter: Sandy Schaefers of Reno, NV; one brother, Larry (Nancy) Ames of Miller, two sisters: Delores (Marvin) Nielsen of Custer and Jeanette (Milton) Campbell of Clarkston, WA and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaretha in 2009; his mother, Myrtle in 2010 and his father, Wesley in 2000.
