He was born April 6, 1932 in Union County to parents Willie Simpson and Delphia Deese Simpson; both preceded him in death. A viewing will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12:00PM at the graveside and service will begin at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail Cemetery. JW will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Nancy Pressley Simpson, son Jim Simpson (Vivian), son Terry Simpson (Lisa), daughter Ronda Mullis (Rodney), grandchildren; Tracy Strawn (Josh), Kenneth Simpson (Mandy), Heather Kindley (Bryan), Laura Hill (Travis), Brian Simpson, Derrick Simpson, Ashley Simpson, Hannah Simpson and Ryan Blackwelder (Nicole), 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Libby Williams (Curtis), Darrell Simpson (Mary), Deanie Carter, Bruce Simpson (Linda), Sandy Baucom, Van Simpson and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, JW is preceded in death by siblings Ira Simpson (Rachel), Marie Walters (Bill), Janie Baucom (Bill), Monty Mills and Philip Simpson. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made out to First Baptist Church of Indian Trail.
