Thomas James W. Thomas, son of Ralph S. and Luetta Lee Thomas was born near McDonald Kans., February 23, 1888 and departed this life at the Chase County Hospital March 15, 1966 at the age of 78 years and 20 days. As a child he lived at Traer, Kansas where he attended school and his father owned and managed several businesses. It was there that he met Addie Decker to whom he was married on April 2, 1908 at Oberlin, Kans. During the early years of their married life, they lived on a farm near Traer and later moved to Atwood, Kans. In 1926 the family moved to the Wauneta, Nebr., area, and have lived at their present farm since 1931. In spite of his advancing years, he had continued to operate the farm until the time of his sudden death. He was preceded in death by his parents, by one brother, Ulva C. Thomas and one son, James Ralph Thomas. He is survived by his wife Addie, four daughters, Mrs. Levi (Luella) Mohler of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Melvin (Irene) Lingelbach of Barstow, California, Mrs. Carl (Alta) Berggren of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mrs. Loren (Marjorie) Good of Flagler, Colo., and two sons Lee A. Thomas of Lamar, Nebr. and Ivan E. Thomas of Glenda, Wyo. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Myron Williams of Wauneta, and four brothers, Ben Thomas of Boise, Idaho, Don Thomas of San Diego, Calif., Ralph Thomas of Tomah, Wisc., and Lyle Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif. He was a loving husband and father who had a wonderful way with children and was always happy to be doing for others. Services were held at the Wauneta Methodist Church, Friday, March 18, at 2:00 with the Rev. John Brooks officiating. Mrs. Robert Walgren, soloist, sang "In the Garden" and "Sweet hour of Prayer", accompanied by Mrs. E.R. Voorhees at the organ. Escorts were Virgil Robertson, Kenneth Hicks, Gerald Wine, Gene Justice, Basil Dinnel, Dwight Hoff. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery with Luhrs & Reynolds of Imperial officiating."
