Description	:	James Webster "Jim" Criswell, Sr., 84, of Eureka, died Sunday, September 22, 2002, at the Greenwood County Hospital. He was born on February 11, 1918, in New Lexington, Ohio, the son of Charles W. and Mary Josephine (Brown) Criswell. The family moved to Eureka when he was 7-years-old. He attended Eureka schools and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1937. On October 14, 1939, he was united in marriage to Colleen Sovern in El Dorado, KS. Read More	James Webster "Jim" Criswell, Sr., 84, of Eureka, died Sunday, September 22, 2002, at the Greenwood County Hospital. He was born on February 11, 1918, in New Lexington, Ohio, the son of Charles W. and Mary Josephine (Brown) Criswell. The family moved to Eureka when he was 7-years-old. He attended Eureka schools and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1937. On October 14, 1939, he was united in marriage to Colleen Sovern in El Dorado, KS. They made their home in Eureka where he worked for Phillips Petroleum. At the onset of World War II, he enlisted in the United States Army. and served his country with honor. After the war he returned to Eureka. In 1967 the family moved to Shidler, OK, with his job. He retired from Phillips in 1973 and he and his wife returned to Eureka. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 50, both of Eureka. Jim is survived by his wife of the home; one son; two daughters; eight great-grandchildren and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 25, in Eureka, with Reverend Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Private interment followed. From the Eureka Herald.
