Beggs, a lifelong resident of the Keosauqua community, were held at the Burnett funeral home in Keosauqua at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Jesse J. Brabbs, an old friend of the family, was in charge. Singers at the funeral were Walter Beer, O.C. Williams, Wayne Davidson and William Davidson, with Mrs. James A. Craig as accompanist. The bearers were J. Henry Strickling, Roy Overman, Glenn Kerr, Harold Craig, James Duffield and Emmett Morrow. Burial was at the Pittsburg cemetery. Mr. Beggs who was 76 years old, was born in Van Buren county and owned a farm west of Pittsburg. He died of a heart attack the night of December 17 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Marshall, near Stockport. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Crawford of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs. Elmer Marshall of Stockport; three brothers, A.R. Beggs and J.J. Beggs of Keosauqua and Roy Beggs of Ottumwa; two half-brothers, Otto Beggs of Keosauqua and Arthur Beggs of Union, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Jones of Keosauqua. Source: Van Buren Co.
