Description	:	John Jeffrey Beggs John Jeffrey Beggs, son of James and Margaret Beggs, was born near Pittsburg, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1861, and passed away April 28, 21, 1861, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 7 days. He was third in a family of ten children of whom Mrs. Jennie Jones of Keosauqua, Mrs. Louella Knox of Clarinda, Ross of Keosauqua, and Roy of Ottumwa, with two half brothers, Arthur of Union and Otto of Keosauqua, survive him. Read More	John Jeffrey Beggs John Jeffrey Beggs, son of James and Margaret Beggs, was born near Pittsburg, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1861, and passed away April 28, 21, 1861, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 7 days. He was third in a family of ten children of whom Mrs. Jennie Jones of Keosauqua, Mrs. Louella Knox of Clarinda, Ross of Keosauqua, and Roy of Ottumwa, with two half brothers, Arthur of Union and Otto of Keosauqua, survive him. He was united in marriage with Amy Wilson on Dec. 6, 1881, and they became the parents of six children. Hetty died in 1888 and Earl in 1915. Surviving are Forrest of Morgansfield, Ky., Mrs. Orpha Dial of Ottumwa, and Ernest and Mrs. Lena Cochran of California. The wife and mother passed away Feb. 18, 1902. Mr. Beggs was united in marriage with Mrs. Etta Beggs on Nov. 17, 1903, and the two sons born to this union, Hollis, of near Cantril, and Hazen of Ottumwa, with several grandchildren and many relatives and friends survive. He was converted to Christianity early in life and was an active church worker so long as his health would permit his attendance. His life was lived in accordance with the creed expressed in the following lines: "Faith with my brother, faith in my God, faith, O Thou light the path, I here have trod. Contributed by Dave and Kristi Bruner He was a natural farmer and rejoiced in his labors. He was honest and industrious, and enterprising. He was a good neighbor and a good citizen, and his home was ever a hospitable one. While his life was centered in his home his interests were as wide as his whole community and he was always active in its welfare, holding many positions of trust in various organizations. His life was one of service. Funeral services were held at the family home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in charge of Rev. J.C. Austin. Interment in Pittsburg cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
