Jan's childhood was spent in Bloomfield with her brothers, Kenny, Keith, Rex, Don and Jim. Jan married Vaughn R. Erickson of Wausa, NE on August 14, 1951. Read More	Jan Ann Erickson was born July 24, 1929 to Earnest (Sam) and Beatrice (Bea) Bruner in Bloomfield, NE. Jan's childhood was spent in Bloomfield with her brothers, Kenny, Keith, Rex, Don and Jim. Jan married Vaughn R. Erickson of Wausa, NE on August 14, 1951. The young couple lived in Wausa and began their family. Their children Pat, Ann, Mike, Jim and Jon moved with Jan and Vaughn to Council Grove, KS in 1968. Throughout her life Jan's energy, interest in others, and work ethic led her and her family to many interests. As a girl, she ushered in the movies and worked in her parents' restaurant. As a young woman and mother she worked for Knox County and was a homemaker. She supported her husband's business ventures. Jan worked as a bookkeeper for the Morris County Weed Department and served on the City Council. Jan's dedication to the church and community was lifelong. She sang in the choir, taught CD and volunteered her time to the Auxiliary. She played baritone in the Community Band. Jan joined her beloved husband, Vaughn and her long missed son, Mike when she passed away in Arlington, TX March 12, 2015. Her surviving children Pat, Ann, Jim and Jon will honor her and celebrate her life on May 9, 2015 at Saint Rose of Lima Church in Council Grove, KS. We invite those who knew of Jan's big heart, energy, and joy in life to join us. The Mass will begin at 10 a.m., May 9, 2015. There will be a reception and meal served in the church center after the Mass. No graveside services. For those who may join us from out of town: we have blocked rooms under the name Erickson at Candlewood Suites, 210 Blue Earth Place, Manhattan, KS 66502. Rooms are blocked May 8th and 9th with special rates. Phone: 785.320.7995 or can register via website. Indicate Erickson under special instructions. The drive to Council Grove will take approximately 40 minutes.
