The family farmed in this vicinity until twelve years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Brantsen retired and moved to Sioux Center. Mrs. Brantsen died very suddenly three years ago. Six children survive: Mrs. Gerrit Kosters of Rock Valley; Fred and Will, Sioux Center; Mrs. G.A. Franken, Sioux Center; Mrs. Jake Duistermars, Carnes. Mr. Brantsen was a respected member of the community, a kind and thoughtful neighbor, devoted husband and father. Alton Democrat 1927-12-02.
