Description	:	born in Bohemia, Austria John Bures was born in Europe, April 21. 1834, and died at his home in Elberon, Tama county, Iowa, early Friday morning January 24, 1896, after an illness of about three months with inflammation of the liver. In 1866, Mr. Bures and his family, at that time consisting of his wife and one daughter, immigrated to this country and settled on a farm one mile south of Waltham in this county. Read More	born in Bohemia, Austria John Bures was born in Europe, April 21. 1834, and died at his home in Elberon, Tama county, Iowa, early Friday morning January 24, 1896, after an illness of about three months with inflammation of the liver. In 1866, Mr. Bures and his family, at that time consisting of his wife and one daughter, immigrated to this country and settled on a farm one mile south of Waltham in this county. There he lived until 1883, when he retired from the active pursuits of farm life and moved to this place where he resided until death. His wife and an only daughter. Mrs. M. Ulch, of this place, survive him, an only son having died in infancy. The deceased was a member of the Catholic church, one of the early settlers in this part of the county and leaves a large circle of friends who unite in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Anton Novotny, the Bohemian minister at Vining. A large number of friends and neighbors attended the exercises which were held at the house and the church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
