Linwood, March 14 - John Hoffman, Sr., passed away at his home in Linwood Friday morning, March 10, aged 79 years, 3 months and 25 days. Born in Bohemia, he came to the United States with his family in July, 1877, settling on a farm in Saunders county, near Linwood. Mr. Hoffman was married twice. His first wife died in 1887, and he married again in 1891. He is survived by his widow and six children, three sons and three daughters. The children are Mrs. John Walla, Mrs. J. B. Soukup, Miss Emma Hoffman, James W. Hoffman, Frank Hoffman and John L. Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman is survived also by three step-children, Mrs. M. J. Rezac, Mrs. Harry Brown and Frank Sabatka. Funeral services were held in the Z.C.B.J. hall on Sunday afternoon, March 12. Rev. Fillippi, of Clarkson, conducted the services. Interment was in Linwood Hill cemetery. _________ We wish to express our thanks to all who assisted us in any way during the illness and at time of death and burial of our beloved husband and father, also for the floral offerings.
