Helms Drive, Wabash, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at 4:40PM at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester. She was born May 15, 1928 in Wabash, Indiana to Ernest W. and Anna Lucile (Bahler) Scheerer. She graduated from Wabash High School in 1946. Mark Honeywell hired her to manage the skating rink at the Honeywell Center. She was also a secretary for Honeywell, Inc. and Markhon Industries for many years and secretary at the Wabash Christian Church for 13 years. She was a lifetime member of St Matthew's United Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, and organist for many years. Jane was a member of Wabash Musicale, Wabash Valley Music Association Board, Falls Cemetery Board of Directors, president of the Women's Guild of her church, member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, charter president of Wawaseca Chapter of National Secretaries Association, and was the secretary/treasurer for Habitat for Humanity. She is survived by her brother, Ernest W. (Ingrid) Scheerer of Honolulu, Hawaii; three god-children, Stanley Weber of Tennessee, Marsha Ridenour McGuigan of Houston, Texas, and Mari Ridenour Martin of Somerset; seven special cousins, Julie K (Jim) Gackenheimer of Wabash, Thomas E Forbes of Fenton, Missouri, Ryan Gackenheimer of St. Louis, Missouri, Amy (Chris) Hunter of Belleville, Michigan, Nathan Forbes of St. Louis, Missouri, Amanda Forbes of St. Louis, Missouri, and Erin Gackenheimer of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be Monday, July 3, 2006, at 2:00pm at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 1717 N. Wabash Street, Wabash with David Blanke officiating. #Burial will be at Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-6pm, Sunday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.
