SPANGLER DIES AT BLUFFS HOSPITAL Mrs. M. L. Spangler pioneer resident of Walnut, passed away at Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs, Monday, February 22, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 16 days. About four weeks ago she was taken ill with a severe cold and on Tuesday, February 16 she was taken to the hospital. Jennie Hines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hines, was born January 6, 1861 at Jackson county, Iowa. She came to Walnut as a young girl and was employed at the Sankey Hotel for about three years. On March 4, 1880 she was married to Monroe L. Spangler at St. Joseph, Mo. To this union five children were born. Her husband and three sons, Harry, Fred and Robert preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn, one son, Frank Spangler of Davis, Ill; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Matthies of Walnut; one brother, Alex Hines of Mooreland, Okla., and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at her home in Walnut on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. Wm. Krummel of the Evangelical church officiating. Burial in the Walnut cemetery.
