Tyler, daughter of James and Margaret Tyler was born January 24, 1871 in Gentry County, Missouri and passed away August 16 at the Winchester Hospital at the age of 91 years and 6 months. On January 11, 1897, at Leavenworth, Kansas she was married to James Gibson. To this union one son Lee was born. He preceded her in death by only three weeks. Tyler, daughter of James and Margaret Tyler was born January 24, 1871 in Gentry County, Missouri and passed away August 16 at the Winchester Hospital at the age of 91 years and 6 months. On January 11, 1897, at Leavenworth, Kansas she was married to James Gibson. To this union one son Lee was born. He preceded her in death by only three weeks. Jim and Jennie lived their entire married life in Jefferson County in the vicinity of Winchester and Oskaloosa. Their earlier years were on the farm the later ones in Oskaloosa. Before her marriage Jennie taught school for a number of years and after she had reached the age of seventy-two the demand for teachers called her back to the schoolroom for 5 more years in one of which she was the oldest teacher in Kansas public schools. Early in her married life she took Christ as her Savior and together with her husband united with Hebron Baptist Church where her membership remained over 50 years until her death. Her life was an example of her faith. She followed meekly the steps of the Master working as a Sunday School teacher for many years and by precept and example, pointing others to the Savior. She was a member of the Grayson Happy Hour Club. Her gentle and pleasant manner made friends wherever she went. she retained a good memory and bright inquiring mind until the last few weeks of her life, always maintaining a keen interest in the lives and activities of her friends. She is survived by her husband, James of the home, a grandson, Jimmy Gibson of Duluth, Minnesota and three great grandchildren. Surviving also are a brother, Wilson Tyler of Winchester and one sister, Mrs. Etta Tyler Smith, Topeka. She leaves also many other relatives and a large circle of friends who will sadly miss her and mourn her passing.
