Read More	Presque Isle / Saint Louis, MO — Jane (Hews) Lockhart, 73, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at Laclede Groves Care Center in Webster Groves. Jane was born March 10, 1948, in Presque Isle, Maine, the daughter of Edward and Barbara (King) Hews. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1966. After high school, Jane attended the University of Maine, earning a BA in English in 1970. After graduation she moved to the Washington, DC area, where she worked as a writer for a fashion boutique and later in cosmetic sales. Jane was active in the national Cherry Blossom Festival, representing Maine as its Cherry Blossom Princess in 1971. She also enjoyed traveling in Europe, visiting several countries. After marriage, she lived in Indiana and the Boston area, before moving to the Saint Louis area, where she was a longtime resident of Warson Woods, Missouri. Jane was an avid reader, gourmet cook, golfer, and traveler. She was an active member of Glen Echo Country Club and served as a guide for several years at the Historic Thomas Sappington House Museum. Jane is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jay Lockhart, also of Warson Woods; two brothers and their wives, Ray and Suzanne (Grant) Hews of Presque Isle, Maine, Mark and Debi (Hayden) Hews of Poland, Maine; a sister-in-law, Connie (Lockhart) Anders and her husband Eric of Midland, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Barbara Hews of Presque Isle, Maine. A memorial service is planned for 11:00a, December 1, 2021, at Bopp Chapel 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, Maine.
