Wagoner held at Pierce Sunday Afternoon Another mother of the early days of Pierce was laid to rest in "God's acre" last Sunday afternoon. We refer to Mrs. E. H. Wagoner, whose remains were received at Pierce on the 2 o"clock train for burial. Mrs. Wagoner died at Libety (sic), Missouri, on Friday, May 17. Mr. and Mrs. Wagoner came to Pierce nearly a half a century ago, when the town was a mere hamlet of scattered homes and business houses. Here they reared a family of four children, all of whom will be remembered by the early residents of this place. Here their oldest son, George, died on March wq, 1901. Mrs. Wagoner was one of God's noble women, a kind and loving wife and mother, a neighborly neighbor and sympathetic friend in the true sense of the word. Louise Jane Burge was born April 9, 1857 at Marion, Virginia. At the time of her passing she was 78 years of age. She was united in marriage to Elias H. Wagoner Dec. 19, 1881. To this union four children were born, one son, George preceeding here in death. She leaves to mourn her great loss three children: Mrs. Herman Zibell, Pierce; Mrs. Harry Anderson, Hyannis, Nebr., and Kelly Wagoner, of Liverty, Mo. Also two grandsons at Liberty, Mo., and three brothers: Wm. Burge, of South Sioux City, Ed. Burge, of Pilger and James Burge, of Denver, Colo. Coming to Nebraska from Virginia in 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Wagoner first located at Stanton, moving to Pierce a few years later. In 1909 they moved to Liberty, Mo., which has been the home of the deceased since. Mr. Wagoner died Mar. 17, 1926, and his body was brought to Pierce for burial. Mrs. Wagoner became a Christian and united with the Methodist church early in life. She was a member of that church at Liberty, Mo. At the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church by Rev. Rollie Poe Sunday afternoon, burial being made in Prospect View cemetery besides (sic) the husband and son. The pall bearers were George Fox, H. F. Grunwald, E. A. Ulrich, Elmer Rowley, Chris Kirschman and J. B. McDonald. Rites were also held at the Methodist church at Liberty, Mo., the Saturday before, the body being accompanied by her grandson, Homer Wagoner, to Pierce. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral at Pierce were William Coley and Margaret, Mrs. Ethel Coley, Mrs. S. L. Hawkins, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crusenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coley and Ed Burge, all of Pilger; William Burge of South Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Troutman and family Winside, Mrs. Myrtle Anderson of Hyannis and Homer Wagoner of Liberty, Mo. The sympathy of this paper is extended to the children and brothers of Mother Wagoner in their hour of sorrow.
