She came with her parents by covered wagon to Oak, Neb., when three weeks old. Here she grew to womanhood except for a short time when they lived in Iowa and Wyoming when her father was helping build the Union Pacific railroad from Omaha to Cheyenne. She was one of a family of six, 3 girls and 3 boys. Her two living sisters, Sarah and Grace, live in Core, Ore. The brothers, John E., Charles L., and McClellan having preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Frank R. Barrett on October 31, 1880 at Oak, Neb. Four children were born to this union: Charles E., Ross F., George H., and Alma D. Olds. Each has preceded her in death, Ross F. during infancy. The immediate relatives now living are: a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charley Barrett of Berkley, Calif.; a son-in-law, A.E. Olds of Ogallala and four grandchildren: Della E. Haber of Ogallala, Mark Barrett of Van Nuys, Calif., Lois Barrett Richard of Berkeley, Calif.; and Keith Barrett of Peoria, Ill.; a great grandchild and numerous cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Barrett lived at Oak for a number of years, at Deshler two, and then moved to a farm near Cadams. Here Mr. Barrett passed away on Dec. 11, 1936. Mrs. Barrett remained there for six years before coming to Nora. For the past eight years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Smith who were old neighbors and close friends. She was a real pioneer and lived with her parents on Ranch 32 four miles west of Oak during the Indian massacre and terrorism east of Oak in 1864. Mrs. Barrett was a kind and loving mother and neighbor willing to help whenever she could. Her pleasant disposition endeared her to all who knew her. Funeral services are being conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock in the Nora Methodist church (sic), with the pastor, the Rev. Harold J. Coates, officiating. Burial is being made in Evergree (sic) cemetery (sic) at Superior.
