Description	:	LINCOLN — Janet Kay (Longsine) John passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017. She was born to Floyd and Neva Longsine on Aug. 10, 1945, in Norton, Kan. Janet graduated from high school in Central City in 1963 and then moved to Rosemead, Calif., to marry her high school sweetheart, Dwain John, in 1963. They returned to their hometown of Central City because “there is no place like Nebraska.” She worked as a secretary in Central City High School, cheering on the Bison until 1980, when the family moved to Lincoln. She began a career at the UNMC College of Dentistry,... Read More	LINCOLN — Janet Kay (Longsine) John passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017. She was born to Floyd and Neva Longsine on Aug. 10, 1945, in Norton, Kan. Janet graduated from high school in Central City in 1963 and then moved to Rosemead, Calif., to marry her high school sweetheart, Dwain John, in 1963. They returned to their hometown of Central City because “there is no place like Nebraska.” She worked as a secretary in Central City High School, cheering on the Bison until 1980, when the family moved to Lincoln. She began a career at the UNMC College of Dentistry, serving students and faculty as a secretary for 35 years. She was a devoted mother, an honorary member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and a lover of horses and dogs over the years. Always a Husker fan, she enjoyed the football games because they always meant fun with family members and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Wagner and Jolene John-Beckstrom (Robert) of Lincoln, and Lindy Marchese (Matt); two grandsons, Cash and Cason Marchese of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; sisters, Beverly Hulsebusch (Michael) of Lincoln and Shirley Nelson (Charles) of Central City; and many close nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwain; her parents; a sister, Sharon Sitzman, and a nephew, Michael Sitzman, both of Culbertson. Arrangements are with Roper & Sons Funeral Home, 4300 “O” St., Lincoln. Visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Roper & Sons Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Solt Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with burial to follow in the Central City Cemetery.
