Ath the age of eleven years she moved with her parents to Atchison county, Mo., where she was married to Jacob McKee, March 20, 1884. To this union were born six children all of whom are still living. She united with the Baptist Church at the age of sixteen and remained a faithful member until her death February 24, 1912. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Orahood at the residence Sunday at 3 o'clock p.m. Mrs McKee left plans for the service and scripture and the hymns she ahd selected were used. Accordingly the minister read John 14:1-6; and the quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Mahn, Mrs. S.H.Gosnell and Mrs. C.A. Gibbons sang"What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "The Solid Rock" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye". Miss Kellogg presided at the piano. The floral tribute was beautiful and elaborate. In spite of the severe weather a large number of friends and neighbors were present to express their sympathy to the family and their esteem for the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the Alma cemetery. Thus ends the earthly career of one of the most useful and beautiful characters of Harlan county. Mrs. McKee was a woman of fine qualities both of mind and heart. She was a home-maker and a home-lover and has done more than can be estimated through the splendid home influence going out through her children to bless the world. Through her season of suffering her patience and fortitude were beautiful, through her whole life her presence was always radiant and cheerful. She is now at rest. Peace to her memory.
