Description	:	Janice Ann Wellendorf, the daughter of Walter and Arlene Blohm Hansen, was born in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, of cancer, at the age of 46 years and 11 days. Read More	Janice Ann Wellendorf, the daughter of Walter and Arlene Blohm Hansen, was born in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, of cancer, at the age of 46 years and 11 days. Janny was baptized and confirmed in the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. She attended schools where she lived, in both Guthrie County and Audubon County. In 1949, when Janny was 10, she, her father Walter, and three of her cousins were victims in the polio epidemic. Janny was in the Raymond Blank Memorial Hospital in Des Moines when her father became ill and died. Not only did Janny have to regain her health, but now she had to deal with the loss of her father and the life changes that his death brought to the family. (As a result, Janny grew up very appreciative of things that others did for her and of gifts she was given. Janny kept every greeting card that she was ever given, and had them filed in shoe boxes in a closet). On May 23, 1956, Janice married Ronald Wellendorf in Red Oak, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union: Timothy Edwin, Robin Walter, and Tracey Gene. Janny's family was very important to her. Also, she was very important to all of the neighborhood kids in Audubon, because they all called her "Mom". Janny had great listening skills and gave good advice. She could see past the image to the real person, and was quite tactful.She was the stability when a tragedy struck. Janny was a person to give another confidence. Janny became a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and raised her sons with that faith. Besides her church activities, Janny enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She was a very neat housekeeper and gardener. She helped a great deal at the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store that she and Ron eventually bought from Ron's parents. Janny enjoyed her grandchildren Natalie and Natahan, and enjoyed her sons and daughters-in law. Those left to mourn her loss include her husband Ron, her sons and their wives: Tim and Debbie Wellendorf with Natalie and Nathan of Concordia, KS; Rob and Pam Wellendorf of Tulsa, OK; and Tracey and Jodi Wellendorf of Council Bluffs, IA; her mother Arlene Christensen; her brother and sisters and their spouses: Eugene and Helen Hansen of Hamlin, IA; Marilyn and Keith Grabill of Audubon, IA; and Nadene and Russ Peppers of Colorado Springs, CO; her mother and father-in-law, Edwin and Bernice Wellendorf of Audubon; and numerous other aunts, uncles and relatives.
