Description	:	Ronald Gene Wellendorf, the son of Edwin and Bernice Richa Wellendorf, was born in Schleswig, IA on Feb. 12, 1938 and died August 20, 1999 at his home in Des Moines, IA. Ron was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. He attended the Audubon schools and graduated with the Class of 1956. Read More	Ronald Gene Wellendorf, the son of Edwin and Bernice Richa Wellendorf, was born in Schleswig, IA on Feb. 12, 1938 and died August 20, 1999 at his home in Des Moines, IA. Ron was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. He attended the Audubon schools and graduated with the Class of 1956. On May 23, 1956, Ron married Janice Ann Hansen in Red Oak, Iowa. They spent most of their married life in Audubon. Three sons were born to this union: Timothy, Robin, and Tracey. Ron and Janice worked with Ron's father Edwin in the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store, and eventually became the owners of the store. Ron was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Lion's Club, and the Quarterback Club. Ron was also a board member of the Audubon County Memorial Hospital. Ron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon most of his life and then the First United Methodist Church in Audubon the latter part of his life, and there he served a term on the Board of Trustees. Ron had a sense of humor, and he never met a stranger! People were important to him. He made everyone he met feel special. Preceding him in death was his wife Janice, in June of 1985, and his father Ed, in August of 1994. Survivors include his sons and their wives and grandchildren: Tim and Debbie Wellendorf with Natalie and Nathan, all of Concordia, KS; Rob and Pam Wellendorf with Mark, Allison, and Robyn of Owasso, OK; Dr. Tracey and Jodi Wellendorf with Kiley and Ben of Carroll, IA; his mother Bernice Wellendorf of Ackley; his brother and sister and their spouses: Larry and Linda Wellendorf of Ankeny; Arliss and Kurt Kelsey of Iowa Falls; his mother-in-law and her husband Art Christensen of Audubon; his special friend Nancy McCrane of Des Moines, and numerous other friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted on August 26, 1991 at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon with Pastor Dwayne Ferguson officiating. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
