Janice Dorothy (Hass) Balak was born September 24, 1930 in Lincoln, NE and was adopted by Fred and Inez (Raasch) Hass. Janice attended Beemer School and graduated from Beemer High School in 1948. She attended Norfolk Beauty College and was a hair beautician. She opened Jan's Beauty Shop in 1962 and operated the shop her entire married life. On October 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Vernon A. Balak at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. The couple were life time residents of Beemer. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and St. John's Ladies Missionary League Society, a past member of the Beemer School Board, and a life time member of the Legion Auxiliary. Jan and Vern were runner-up for the King & Queen of the 125th Beemer Centennial. Survivors include- Husband-Vernon A. Balak of Beemer, NE Sons and their families- Rodney and wife Janice of Colorado Springs, CO and family, Bryan and wife Dawn Balak and children-Emma and Julia, Scott and wife Kari Balak and children-Zach, Alex and Anna Royce and wife Mary Balak of St. Joseph, MO and family, Bradley and wife Katrina Balak Jonathan and wife Lauren Balak, Michael Balak,. Katherine Balak. Daughter- Roxanne Wieseman of York, NE and family, Stephanie and husband David Halpine Leslie Wieseman and fiancé Bryan Johnson, Alex Wieseman, Kyle Wieseman. Brother Ron Hass of Beemer, NE., Sister-In-Law Genevieve Hass West Point, NE., Janice was preceded in death by her parents and brother-Arvid Hass, sister-in-law Caroline Hass.
