She passed away April 5, 2010 after a brief illness in Richfield, Minnesota at the age of 48 years. Janice grew up on the family farm northeast of Burke, SD, where she enjoyed running the hills and creek bottoms with her brothers. She passed away April 5, 2010 after a brief illness in Richfield, Minnesota at the age of 48 years. Janice grew up on the family farm northeast of Burke, SD, where she enjoyed running the hills and creek bottoms with her brothers. She attended Rembrandt School and later attended school in Burke, graduating in 1980. She attended the University of South Dakota for four years, beginning with an art major and later switching to a psychology major. She then attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she graduated with her Doctorate of Psychology. Janice served her internship for two years in Brainerd, MN and St. Cloud, MN before settling in the Minneapolis area. She served as a family counselor, specializing in children. She loved working with children and truly enjoyed her co-workers. She was an avid walker and could often be spotted with her favorite pet at her side. She loved the outdoors, riding her horses and working with animals. Some of her favorite memories were from her trips back to South Dakota to spend time with her family and friends. Janice is survived by her mother, Lynda Lubbers of Gregory, SD; her brothers: Terry Lubbers of Burke, SD and Lee Lubbers of Gregory, SD; her grandparents, Dan and Stella Roggow of Burke, SD; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins and her special friends made over the years in her profession in the Minneapolis area. Janice was preceded in death by her father, James; and her grandparents, Herman and Helen Lubbers. A private graveside service was held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Graceland Cemetery in Burke, South Dakota.
