She graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. On June 1, 1952, Jan was united in marriage to Willis “Bill” Means in Columbus, and they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. On June 1, 1952, Jan was united in marriage to Willis “Bill” Means in Columbus, and they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. They were charter members of Peace Lutheran Church. Jan was employed at the Columbus Telegram for several years, and worked as a secretary at the Army base, during their residence at Fort Sill, Okla. She also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Irrigation Pump Company in Columbus for 12 years. When the couple resided in Norfolk for eight years, Jan worked as a part-time bookkeeper for Norfolk Medical Group. She was involved in many church activities at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Upon retirement, Jan and Bill enjoyed many camping trips together, as well as golfing and playing bridge. Jan is survived by her spouse, Bill Means of Columbus; a son, Douglas Means of Columbus; a sister, Joyce Holtkamp of Columbus; her nephews, Russell Dicke of Columbus, Gerald (Brenda) Dicke of Columbus; a niece, Jean Bradley of Columbus; her brothers-in-law, Norman Bohl of Stanton and James Baeece of Creighton; and her great-nieces and great-nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Grotelueschen; her sisters, Ruth Ann Grotelueschen, Evelyn (Richard) Nelson, Verna (Ernest) Dicke; and a nephew, Ricky Nelson.
