Description	:	Verna E. Dicke, 87, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. The funeral service will be Monday, June 10, 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek, with Rev. Peter Jark-Swain officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Verna Dicke was born on February 13, 1926, in Platte County, Nebraska, to William and Ella (Fittje) Grotelueschen. On August 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ernest Dicke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived on a farm just northeast of Columbus until 1980 when they moved into Columbus. Verna worked on the family farm and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed listening to polka and country music, watching the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
