Read More	Highland Recorder April 20, 1917 On the evening of Easter Sunday April 8th, 1917, the spirit of a dear one took its flight to share in a mansion not made with hands. Janie Elizabeth Armstrong, wife of Harvey Armstrong and daughter of Martha and the late John Burner Wilson. After an illness of only eight days, during which her condition became more and more alarming, it was decided to take her to K. D. Hospital, Staunton, in the last vain hope that an operation would prolong her life. On arriving there it was found that pneumonia had developed and the end of a useful life was but a few hours in coming. Away from home, children and the loving ministrations of friends, only her husband being present to witness the approach of the grim, relentless reaper. Sister Armstrong, who had almost completed her 42nd year, was a most estimable woman, possessing a lovely christian character which was prominent at all times. Patient, loving, kind, self-sacrificing, faithful in all her duties and undertaking, this wife and mother is oh, so sadly missed in the home where her vacant chair never can be filled, where she leaves to mourn their irreparable loss, seven children, the youngest of whom is less than one year old, Raymond, Lucy, Mary, Ruth, Robert, Nora and Woodrow. One daughter, Mrs. Lester Siron, is living in Illinois. Besides the husband, mother and children she is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Rhoda Hevener and Mrs. Lona May Smith, Hightown, Mrs. Nannie Propst, McDowell, Mrs. Mary Emma Armstrong, Mt. Solon, and Mrs. Louie Hoobler, of Illinois, and five brothers: Solomon Wilson, Mt. Solon, Willie, Pinckney, Charlie and Jared Morgan Wilson, all of Illinois. Funeral services were held at McKendree on Tuesday at 11 o'clock by Rev. Allen assisted by Rev. Beverage. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay a last sad tribute of respect, constituting one of the largest funerals ever held at this place. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining, by the side of son and daughter who had preceded her to the better land.
