Morgan Armstrong, 82., passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vernie Botkin, of Headwaters, Saturday, March 19, at 1:15 p.m., after an illness of only two days. For the past twenty years, he has been a resident of Waynesboro, and for the past year has made his home with his son, John W. Armstrong, of 405 Arch Avenue. Waynesboro. He had been visiting his daughter for the past six weeks until the time of his death. Mr. Armstrong was a merchant at Headwaters for more than ten years, and later moved to Waynesboro, where he had been retired for the past year. Mr. Armstrong was born at Doe Hill. Dec. 22, 1866. the son of William and Sarah Price Armstrong. His first wife, who passed away in 1904, was Elizabeth Ellen Wooddell, of McDowell. To this union there were born five daughters and two sons: Mrs. Sarah Phillips and Mrs. Vernie Botkin, of Headwaters: Mrs. Ethel Helmick, of Brentwood, Md.; Mrs. Mary Crummett, of Staunton; Mrs. Lucy Simmons, and John W. Armstrong, of Waynesboro and Van Armstrong who passed away in 1914. In 1914 he married Sadie Hodge, of Headwaters. To this union were born a son and daughter: Jared Daniel Armstrong, where abouts unknown, and Sadie Belle Carroll, who passed away in June 1948. Funeral services will be held at McKendree Chapel, near McDowell. Jared Morgan was the son of William H. Armstrong & Sarah Price born on Bull Pasture Mountain in Highland. He married first to Elizabeth Wooddell in 1891. His second marriage was too Sadie Hodge in 1914. Highland Recorder November 23, 1928 Headwaters News: J.
