Description	:	Jarrett was the son of John Paddy and Miriam Jarrett Huddleston. He married Maria Montgomery (alt. sp. Mariah), daughter of Nancy Keeney and Henry Montgomery, on January 7, 1841. They lived along the Kanawha River and the James River and Kanawha Turnpike, or U.S. Route 60, in present-day Fayette County, WV. Their residence was adjacent the Paddy Huddleston farm in Falls View. J.C. Huddleston was elected constable for Fayette Co, Va in 1852, 1854, and possibly other years. He was also a practicing attorney. His primary occupations were farming and timbering. He was also an experienced riverman and outdoorsman. Huddleston was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. He was consulted by historian Dr. John P. Hale, Col. Philetus W. Norris of the Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology, and others for his deep knowledge of the area for several miles around Kanawha Falls, including its terrain and early settlers. After his death, J.C. Huddleston was buried on his farm before his remains were moved to Old Job Huddleston cemetery where many of his siblings and their families were already interred. Home burial was a common practice in the area, and many members of early generations of the Huddleston family in the Upper Kanawha Valley were buried on their farms. During construction projects related to the expanding coal industry and Union Carbide's EMCO (Elkem) plant in Alloy (Boncar) around 1930, including employee housing built at Falls View, some remains were removed and reinterred at other sites. Jarrett C. and wife were among these reburials. According to family members and other records, they were moved to the Old Job Huddleston (Craig) cemetery in present-day Alloy, WV, (Jack's branch, later Boncar). The stone engraved with initials J.C.H and shown in the photos is most likely the marker for Jarrett Calvin Huddleston's reinterment. The inscription had sunken below the soil line and was no longer visible until the stone was (re)identified in Dec. 2014. The "H" marker is the corresponding footstone for the grave.
